Ferguson Brothers Funeral Home
The Legacy Continues:
The Second Generation

Robert T. (Ickey) Ferguson, Jr.
October 2, 1941 - December 28, 2021
THE LEGACY EVOLVED
After R.T.'s passing, his son Robert Jr. (Ickey) assumed ownership and became General Manager of the family business, even while also continuing his role as Deputy Branch Chief at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA. He dedicated himself to preserving his father’s legacy.
Known for his compassion and community spirit, Ickey was a well-respected figure throughout the City of Rochelle as well as Wilcox and surrounding counties. He cherished every relationship, earning him the friendship of countless individuals. Like his father, Ickey possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit. He remains the only African American to have owned and operated an apartment complex as well as an automobile service station and repair shop in Rochelle. Additionally, he also engaged in car sales and operated a site for wholesale car buying and selling.
Similarly to his father, Ickey took great pride in ensuring funeral prices remained affordable. He never turned away a family in need, always finding ways to ensure that every family could lay their loved ones to rest with dignity and respect. On occasion, he even covered expenses out of his own pocket to help.
During the 2000s, Ickey recognized the necessity for Ferguson Funeral Home to adapt to the evolving needs of the community. In 2006, he expanded the family business by constructing a new facility next door to the original location. Named Ferguson Brothers Funeral Home, this expansion included a chapel and multiple viewing rooms designed to accommodate larger gatherings and provide families with a dignified space to honor their loved ones.
Throughout these changes, Ickey remained devoted to upholding the funeral home's strong ties to the community's cherished traditions. Until he transitioned, Ickey was committed to making sure Ferguson Brothers Funeral Home remained committed to providing compassionate, dignified care to every family it served, ensuring that the legacy of respect, empathy, and community involvement created by R.T. continued for generations to come.
With Ickey's passing, the City of Rochelle and South Georgia mourned the loss of another prominent figure in the community.
To understand what to do is KNOWLEDGE.
To be able to do is SKILL. To see that it gets done RIGHT is service.
To serve every family within its means is FERGUSON’S.
