Rarely are men blessed with the privilege of being associated with a peaceful, humble, God-fearing man such as the late Marsh Ferguson. Anyone that truly knew him, knew that he touched the hearts of everyone he came in contact with. Marsh was a living blessing to all who knew him. Although Marsh had a passion for cars, his greatest joy was derived through spending time with his grandchildren, Jadah and his shadow and running partner William, whom he referred to as his “Lil Buddy”.

Marsh began his journey of life on April 22, 1944, to the parentage of the late Robert Thomas (R.T.) Sr. and Ola Mae Marsh Ferguson in Wilcox County, GA. Marsh, six of his siblings, and their older cousin, the late Pastor Harold “Babyson” Marsh, were all raised by their maternal grandmother, the late Mrs. Adel Gay Marsh, after their mother passed. Marsh graduated from Excelsior High school in Rochelle, Georgia, and later attended Fort Valley State University. Marsh was injured in the United States Army and in 1970 received an Honorable Discharge. After 27 years and six months of service, Marsh retired from Dekalb County as an Assistant Superintendent with DeKalb County Sanitation Department. Marsh gave his life to Christ at a young age. He joined Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church and remained a member until his death.

Marsh left his earthly body on February 24, 2021, at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA. He was comforted by his wife and confidant of 53 years, Queenie, and his daughter, Marshia who held his hand as he transitioned. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Dr. James A. Ferguson and John A. Ferguson, and 1 sister, Barbara L. Ferguson Armstrong. Marsh leaves to cherish his sweet and loving memories, his wife, Queenie M. Ferguson, his daughter, Marshia Q. Ferguson, 2 grandchildren, Jadah K. Ferguson and William Marsh Ferguson (all of Decatur, GA); 3 bonus children; Michael A. Edwards (Decatur, GA), Donna R. Edwards (Rochelle, GA), Susie R Edwards (College Park, GA); four bonus grandchildren, Alphonso Larkin, Dwaine Deans Jr, Christopher Deans and Schundalysia Deans, ALL of whom he loved as if they were his own; 3 brothers, Robert T. Ferguson Jr., (Rochelle, GA), Dr. Clifford L. (Anna) Ferguson (Kensington, MD) and Lanier Ferguson (Nashville, TN), 2 sisters, Rose Mary Middleton (Warner Robins, GA) and Precious Muhammad (Hampton, GA), 3 sisters-in-law, Annette (Clarence) Thomas, Verrease (Eddie) Miller and Barbara Ferguson, 2 brothers- in-law, Rosbie Tisdol Jr., Jessie Tisdol and Jerome Tisdol; 14 great-grandkids, 1 great-great granddaughter, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and grieving friends.

He also leaves to cherish his memory, his best friend of over 40 years, Mr. Melvin Lowery Sr. (Decatur, GA), a very close cousin, Mr. Xavier (Man) Ferguson (Rochelle, GA), and a special nephew he loved discussing classic cars with, Mr. Dexter Thomas (Seoul, South Korea).
