Jacqueline Anese Rawls was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the age of 63, in her home located in West Point, Mississippi.
Jacqueline was born on March 8, 1961, to the late Offie “OJ”, and LaEunice Lawson Rawls. She was the middle of three children from this union.
Jacqueline, lovingly known as Jackie, was born in Passaic, New Jersey. This is where she began her journey with Jesus Christ at an early age. She attended Union Baptist Church where she received her baptism.
Jackie attended Passaic High School, graduating with the class of 1979. Furthering her education after high school, Jackie was accepted into Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FamU), where she majored in Journalism from 1979-1981.
Jackie and her family moved back to Georgia in 1989. She was gainfully employed by the United States Postal Service and the DeKalb County School District. Jackie joined Calvary Temple Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. James O. Jackson, where she remained a devoted member. During her time at Calvary Temple, she worked as the Church Secretary, dedicating herself to the ministry with faith and commitment.
Jackie loved her family deeply. Cherishing every moment spent with her parents, siblings, niece, aunts, uncles, and plentiful of cousins. Jackie loved life. She was passionate about her writings. Oh, and how could we forget the music. While we knew her for being beautiful, Afrocentric, funny, and a great cook, Jackie was also very private and spirited in nature. Her actions and words were always rooted in love and sincere desire to uplift and inspire those in her life. Jackie’s legacy is one of Love, Privacy, and Unwavering Faith!
Jacqueline Anese Rawls was preceded in death by her father, Offie Rawls; her mother, LaEunice Lawson Rawls; and her sister, Athea Rawls.
Jackie leaves behind a legacy of love and faith cherished by her only living sibling, Jeffrey Rawls; maternal uncle Willie James (Betty) Lawson; paternal aunts and uncle: Marie Adams, Arthenia Stockling, Eva McCoy, and George Rawls; and a niece, nephew, and host of cousins and friends who will forever treasure her loving spirit.
